Look What I Can Do!

Henri is getting stronger and stronger every day! But along with that has come a bit of an attitude. He is really good if I am playing with him, nursing him, holding him…. but as soon as it comes time to play in his jumper (ALONE… well, as alone as anyone gets in this house!), or sit in his high chair and wait five minutes for food…. well, that is a different story. He has decided that he no longer will take an occasional bottle either, so that is making things a little tricky too. We have tried everything… new bottles, other people feeding… I even broke down and bought a container of organic formula to see if he would take that once in a while (I will still nurse as long as possible… of course with Zoe that ended up being three years!)… nothing is working. Zoe told me it sounded like we were toturing him when we tried to give him a bottle. Remember how I said she nursed until she was three? Well, that meant mom never being able to leave her for more than two hours. Do any of you moms out there have ANY suggestions???? He is eating tons of foods now and has taken to food like ‘a duck to water’ as Jerome says. He is our kid after all!!

Even as I type, little man is strapped to me in his kangaroo pouch. Trust me, I love wearing him and certainly don’t mind the extra layer of polar fleece with this weather, but sometimes you just really get tired carrying around an extra sixteen pounds!! I have taken off five lbs. myself since starting the Wii Fit, so that’s wonderful and I have to keep telling myself it’s just a little extra workout. Trying to cook a big turkey dinner last night lost a little joy though with the baby screaming the whole time! The big sis’s are a great help though. Well, usually. Unless they ‘haven’t seen this episode of Sponge Bob!!’… yeah…sure.

In a tiny bit of crafting news, I do have a few Valentine goodies and some coasters that will soon be restocked at Anthology.

Here’s a few Valentine goodies for them.

A friend of mine is opening a store this spring too so I would like to start thinking of some fun stuff for her (you know who you are!! I wasn’t sure if it was a ’secret’ or not….xxoo… I”ll email you soon..) as well as my other shops. I just really can’t seem to get my oomph back.

Jerome and I are going through the house debates as well. We absolutely adore our house but it is tiny. Teeny teeny tiny. Which, of course has it’s good points as well. It is pretty efficient, it forces us to use space wisely, it is relatively easy to clean, but did I mention it is TINY?? We went and looked at a farm last week, which I loved parts of, but it would be way too much work for us at this point in our lives since the house was very outdated. We even met with a realtor this week to get her opinions on our house. She loved it, but in this market, who knows!! Hopefully we will see some of the financial changes that our NEW PRESIDENT is going to make happen quickly and that will hopefully boost the market. We do live in a marketable part of Madison (basically the only part still affordable to most first time or young buyers) and we have done a lot of updates that make it a really wonderful home. Who knows….

My boss says it’s time to stop typing and entertain him again. Little does he know it is time to go finish stuffing ephemera packs! I have a wholesale order I need to work on today too, so we’ll see when I get around to that. Thank god there is plenty of leftover turkey to eat, so no cooking for this mama today!!

xxoo and brr brr brrrrrrrr….. can’t complain though… I haven’t had to leave the house in days!

Naomi, its always so funny to me how similar our lives are! Jake has refused a bottle for a couple of months now. Its a little easier on me since I’m home all the time and Stephen works from home so we can coordinate times easier for him to watch him if I need to run errands without him. What I do is feed him RIGHT as I am walking out the door and if I am going to be gone long enough that he might get hungry, Stephen feeds him rice cereal.

We have given up on the carrier issue. I tried a couple different kinds and hated them. We have the Beco in case we want to go out for a walk or something.

We’ve also talked about moving (God I want land, lots of land and the starry skies above….lol)but there’s no way. Not with the housing market as is. Maybe in a few years.

    Stay warm friends!!
    XO

Miss Ruby would never take a bottle but she would take little sips out of a sippy or a cup. Patrick even gave her milk with a dropper a few times, just stuck it right in there and squirted. She was younger than 6 months and it seemed so silly but it gave me just a tiny bit more freedom.

I love stitching on paper…is that what you did on those cards? I just love how it looks and have never tried it. maybe soon. :)

I don’t have any advice, sorry, Maya was the opposite, she started to refuse nursing at about three months, much to my disappointment, and we had to do the bottle exclusively.

I love your valentines btw, like the ones I used to get when I was a kid. So cute!

Naomi, I have been a “lurker” for several months, now–LOVE your blog!!! As for your little guy needing mom…we were successful in having my husband offer cereal or baby food when I was gone. Of course, that never gave me but 4 hours or so, but that’s longer than only 2! Perhaps you have already tried this? As for the babywearing, I am considering it for baby #3 due in May–would you recommed it, or would you say “don’t go down that path?”
