Accepting, and Loving the Little Things

I know I have said this a million times, but we have a very small house. It would be perfect for 2-4 people, stretching it with 5, and definately calling for some creativity with soon to be 6. Well, right now is not the market to sell and we do not want to get in over our heads financially, so I am trying desperately to make peace and be grateful for our tiny space.

We got our loveseat and new bed yesterday for our small space. The loveseat was an early xmas gift from my mom (thanks!) and fits pretty good.

The bed pretty much fills our ‘new’ room (Henri’s old room… Zoe’s old room before that!) except for space for a couple small dressers and little stand. I am happy with the bedding I finally decided on though and it didn’t even cost a ’small’ fortune!

It is sooo comfortable too! Jerome said he slept perfect and asked if I did… wellllll, I’ll tell ya one things that is NOT small… this big ol belly I’m hauling around. So, no dear, I did not sleep perfect and probably will not for about another year, but it was a definate improvement!

I also looked outside and saw another small harvest. I have completely neglected my garden this year and pretty much gave up on it with all the cool weather, but all of the sudden things are thriving! We have peppers, tomatoes and peaches!

Another not small thing is the level of noise coming from upstairs..

Time to go kick the kids outside again. They are ‘grounded’ off of electronics for the week and are actually being forced to be creative with their time. Zoe has a friend over too which is nice, except that her best friend happens to be the loudest, most hyperactive child I have ever met. Ugh. And they wonder why they are always separated in class… Looks like back to four square in the driveway for them!

Of course I always love my little things (kiddos) but they are realllllly stretching their boundaries lately. They have been awful lately. I mean really awful, time to call SuperNanny awful. *sigh*.. it has to get easier, right??? Oh, wait… then there will be puberty…

Also, it is time to work on another not small thing, dinner. We have officially become a large family. Not only does my $200 a week grocery bill tell me this, but the fact that I have to make two lasagnas or casseroles or double batches of everything tells me this! I seriously don’t know what I’m going to do when Henri is eating real portions and Ms. Bean is eating people food. Holy crud.. well, time to go start the grill and force the children to peel some corn, and maybe some potatoes… they are easy to stretch!!

Then I will sip something warm (tea? coffee? wish I had cider…) in the back yard and enjoy the perfect fall day..

I know we all get stressed some days and it becomes hard to see past the annoyances. Hang in there!

What are those lovely little red peppers in the photo?
