Elsie Update

March 2nd, 2007 1:46 pm by Miss Heather in Big News, Day to Day at Glitter

Heather & Elsie
Here’s myself & my ElsieKat. She was diagnosed with CRF this week. Kurt & I are going all out to keep her as comfortable & healthy as we can. We kind of have to put our lives on hold because she needs 24 hour care, but we both know she’s worth it. If you know me you know that Elsie is my child & I love her more than anything. She was a stray that I found on my doorstep in the middle of a March snow storm in 1991. I was going through a serious depression at the time & was feeling like I had no reason to live. Then I found Elsie. She needed me & it turned out that I needed her. Not to sound corny but I feel like she was sent to me so I would have a reason to keep living. We have been together ever since.
She’s not in any pain & is getting the best of love and care that we can give her.
Thank you for all of your warm wishes & prayers & please keep them coming.
A special thanks to Naomi for letting me have the time off to deal with this. She’s got a bun in the oven & has been really sick. The shit all rains at once it seems.
Love, Heather

Aww poor kitty! It\’s hard dealing with hearing your kitty has CRF, but there are lots of things you can do to make their life better. When my kitty was diagnosed with CRF I had to learn how to give Sub-Q\’s, which really helped her, also they have special food that you can order from the vet which is made for kitties with CRF. My kitty also stopped eating for a while, however I bought slippery elm bark at GNC which helped get her metabolism under control so she would eat again. Hopefully you can keep her as comfortable as possible- there has been some kitties which have lived years after being diagnosed. Good luck and bless your little cat!

Miss.Heather! THere’s a huge pet fod recall going on. What type of food does Elsie eat? You can find a list of pet foods being recalled on yahoo news. Kidney failure, right? That’s why the pet food is being recalled. If your brand of pet food is on the list you may be able to sue the company. I’ll post the link here when I find it.

P.S. Still feeling bad about Elsie.

How upsetting!!! When my girl kitty was 1, she developed CRF, and we still do not know the cause. She was treated with fluids and we never had to do the Sub Q thing even. She got over it completely. She is now 4, and she is extremely healthy, lovey, etc. Luckily, we put both of them on Hill’s Kidney Disease hard food 3 years ago, because they were on Iams. Since this new recall, I have been wondering if that could have been the cause 3 years ago.

Hope Elsie Kat will pull through just like our Ernestine did. xoxo
