Cup o’ candles

October 28th, 2007 10:09 am by Naomi in Big News, Day to Day at Glitter, What We Got

These are the newest project that Jerome and I have been working on together. Soy candles!! I know, many people make candles, many use soy wax, and some even use recycled containers, but I still adore these. We have been thrifting away to find coffee mugs, gravy boats, tea cups and any funky containers we think would find. We’ve been testing fragrances (right now I’m on a pumpkin pie and brewed coffee kick) and pouring away. We are using 100% soy wax and natural hemp wicking so they burn for a very long time and are soot free! I hope to have a nice little selection ready for the Crafted show this coming Sunday in Palatine.

What else has been taking up my time lately??

This terrifying duo!

My witch and ninja have been off of school for a few days, then my mom got in to town late Thursday, shopping for ice skates on Friday (they are joining hockey!! yikes….), and nineteen children (not to mention who knows how many adults) here on Saturday for the annual Darby’s b-day / Halloween party! Wow I’m glad that is over. It went really well for how many people were here (did I mention we live in a BUNGALOW). The weather cooperated so most of the games could be outside, and the birthday girl didn’t get too over tired and crabby until the end. Of course, we are still cleaning. I love that I spent a week cleaning before the party, now the house is horrific. I actually stuck to the kitchen floor this morning. Oh well!! I guess that is a sign of a good party.

I have to thank Emily for all her extra help this past week. I couldn’t have pulled this off without her watching the store and giving me pep talks (my favorite being ‘HOW many kids??? Naomi, that is TOO many!!!… the night before the party…).

Anyway, it’s back to Glitter for me today so I suppose I have to get out of the Halloween p.j’s and get in gear!!

Remember: Wednesday is Glitter trick or treat for anyone who spends over $5 (treat bags are limited, so shop early!) and this Friday is the monthly Force Artwalk. We will be open until 10 pm. Here’s a little more info
