Craftacular!!

October 2nd, 2008 10:53 am by Naomi in Day to Day at Glitter

I have to send out a HUGE thank you to Andrea and her husband Chad for the new Craftacular poster design! It is exactly what I was envisioning and did it so amazing quick, especially considering they both work AND have two kids to take care of!!! It is perfect… I do have a few new exciting sponsors we will be adding and a couple minor changes, but I adore it.

There is still time to apply for the show. The info is HERE.

Time to squeeze in lunch while the baby is asleep! OH, one other thing. I am trying to take off some major ‘I’ve been pregnant for two years and was a wee bit overweight before that….’ weight and can’t figure out where to start. Does anyone have suggestions / comments as to what has worked for them or anyone they know?? It would be nice to drop down a bit before the holidays start!!

Naomi, here are my suggestions (That I am currently trying to follow too. lol).

First off, cut as much high fructose corn syrup out of your diet that you can. It’s not just in soda. It’s in breads, packaged pastries, jellies, ketchup and all kinds of other places. While your body processes it as sugar, it does not recognize it AS sugar…making you crave more sugar.

Secondly, try to not cut any one kind of food out of your diet…but have a balance of different foods. Carbs are not the enemy, but they are bad when they are 80% of your diet. Remember that the Meditteranean way of eating is one of the healthiest in the world and they certainly like their bread and pasta. It’s about making the majority of your meals fruit, veg, protein. The majority of your grocery shopping should be done in the outer walls of the store (produce, meat, dairy) and then the center aisles.

Read You On a Diet by Dr. Oz. He’s an excellent source for getting healthy.

Then finally,it’s about moving. This is the part I have the hardest time with. OR had I should say cause having a baby makes you move plenty. lol But trying to go for walks, swim, play, jumprope, dance around. It works better for me when I don’t say the “E” word and just think of it as moving and playing.lol

    Hope this helps!
    xo

I love that poster. And am thinking about applying for the show. (eek!) I was really sad to miss the willy st. fair, I wanted to introduce myself. :)

Do you have charter on demand? I love their workout stuff they have on there and it’s totally whenever you can get to it. Also, don’t eat ice cream every night. Oh wait, that is what I need to stop.

    ;)

Love the poster! Also, the suggestion on carbs is right- remember my NO carb time???
AAAAARGH don’t try that, but do be careful of them.Yes, exercise is a fine idea,( I may even try it sometime,)just watch the sugars(sugar=carbs)and enjoy life.
love you muchly, sure wish I could be in the Craftacular!xoxoxoxoxomomacita

Yay! We’re so glad you like the poster. We had fun making it. :)

I am faaaaar from the expert on weight loss but i always feel better when i drink a lot of water and cut out soda (which happens to be my beverage vice, ugh)

    Love the poster :)

What worked for me last time (hopefully this time!) was just moving around more…..taking the dog for a walk everyday, going to the park & participating, not just watching helped…..

Do you have a “Monkey Joes” around? It’s a crazy indoor inflatable playground that parents can play on with their kids, we walk out of there with a good workout ourselves!

My biggest problem is portion control……if I could just say no I would be much better off!

    Well, good luck to you!

Love the poster! Good job! We’re really looking forward to the Craftacular.. .even just being able to say the word a lot to our customers. I found some groovy 1970s fashion illustrations — just have to figure out how to make them into something to sell.
