Mondays

Today was the absolute epitome of a Monday. It’s cold, windy, and snowing off and on. Brrrr!!! I am kind of in a haze and feeling a bit overwhelmed. So, what did I do today? Pretty much nothing. Well, lots and lots of snuggling with this guy..

I had a good weekend though, all in all. Friday night started with this.

… we all love baby snuggling in this family!

Then I took the girls, my sis, and niece to see this.

I am trying to spend more ‘girl’ time with the ladies. We have been having some major (and minor) attitude and behavior issues. I’m not sure what exactly has all of the sudden sparked the mood swings, well, besides being tween girls….Anyway, the play was great. Darby had already seen it earlier in the week with school, but one of her friends was in it and she wanted to go see it again. It was nice to see a local production as opposed to our other option which had been opening night of High School Musical Three. Yikes!!!!!

On Saturday Jerome and I went downtown to meet Michelle at Anthology and drop off some kitty hats I had made for her. She ordered one for her daughter for Christmas and a little one for her American Girl doll. I didn’t get any pics, but I have to admit, they really did turn out adorable. Now I will have to make some for Darby after she gets her doll next week! Even Zoe asked for the American Girl twins for Christmas. What have I gotten myself into?? It’s so hard trying to practice what I preach and get local, handmade, organic when possible toys, clothes, and food sometimes. I really do the best I can, usually. Then I just spend the rest of the time having my internal struggles for letting them eat fast food (although VERY rarely) or for breaking down and buying a Wii for them for Christmas (shhhh…. to anyone who talks to my kiddos). Seriously, I had some major anxiety issues buying it, but at least it is interactive… right??? Come on, help me out here.. Good thing I have therapy on Wednesday.

Yesterday my sister and I took Henri and headed to OshKosh in the lovely sleet. I had to exchange a pair of pj’s for Darby and I ended up getting some really really great deals at the outlet mall on winter clothes for the kids. Again, internal struggle time. But, they all needed new clothes and I can’t afford organic cotton all the time. Well, maybe if I hadn’t bought the Wii… I even broke down and bought myself a pair of jeans that actually fit! AND they don’t say ‘maternity’ anywhere on the tags!! It’s been a long time my friends… It was a really really long day but the baby was such a trooper!

I did get something in the mail today that brought a ray of sunshine and a taste of warmer days ahead.

My friend Kelly does the most amazing letterpress and she sent this beautiful picture for Henri!

Thank you Kelly!!

Now, I suppose it is time to attempt to clear off my kitchen table and figure out dinner… or just cut more coasters… hmmmmm……

    Hey Naomi-

Don’t be so hard on yourself! You do what you can when you can – and that is all anyone can ask…….it is SO expensive raising kids & just living…….

    I hope you have a happy Tuesday….
