Finally, New Stuff!!

What can you do with tons of bottle caps, fancy glitter, and a zillion scraps of paper from storybooks and cards??

As I’m sure you can guess, the possibilities are endless! What am I doing with them?

Bracelets! Also, pins, magnets, ornaments, and adjustable rings. I love this ring. I wish Woodstock would come on over here with those scissors and help me snip..

I used to do bottle cap jewelry about six years ago and stopped because it seemed a bit over done and the resin is soooo messy and tricky to work with. Now, we already use the resin for other projects and Jerome has his system perfected, so I thought that it was time to use up supplies and have some fun. I actually really love making bottle cap goodies and I figure if I put our Glitter spin on them, they will be a bit different and unique.

~ I would like to thank everyone too who left a comment or sent me a private email about yesterday’s post. Sometimes when you are struggling through things you feel like you are the only person in the world who has ever felt that away. Of course, that is not true, but it so nice to hear other people say ‘hey, I’ve been there and know how you feel.’ Even though sometimes the fogginess is hard to see through, all in all..

xx’s and oo’s to you all… oh, and that coaster looks just like me and Jerome, no?? hehe..

Wednesday = Blog Day?

October 15th, 2008 4:28 pm by Naomi in Day to Day at Glitter | 3 Comments »

I do have the intention of blogging more than once a week~ Then again, I also have the intention of showering more than every few days (literally… eww…..) and sleeping more than two hours at a time…

First a reminder, this Friday is the final day to submit your application for the Holiday Craftacular! I am so amazed at the incredible applications I have already. It is going to be soo hard to choose the vendors. I am officially using a second room at the Masonic Center too since there are so many talented artists interested in participating. We do have two more sponsors to announce as well. Two local shops, both of who are great supporters of local artists, are going to be sponsors. Absolutely Art and the Bohemian Bauble! Welcome ladies!!

Anyway, we have been busy busy as always. I have stores to restock, orders to fill, birthdays to think about (my mom-in-laws this weekend… Darby’s in three weeks…).

But, we are doing great on Halloween costumes!

Zoe’s is all finished, thanks entirely to my mom-in-law! Here’s the little bear cub trying to kidnap the baby..

That was taken right before he vomited all over her…

Here’s the whole costume.

I have Darby’s hat finished but we still need to finish the rest of her costume. Of course she wears cat hats for everyday, so it was a good excuse to make a new one for her!

She is going to be eleven in a few weeks. Yikes… when did that happen? She wanted an American Girl doll for her birthday. I was thinking that we had missed that whole bandwagon (hoping, more like..) but when your mall-loving-glitterwearing-growing-up-too-fast daughter asks for a doll, especially when she is eleven, it warms your heart in so many ways that you drop the ridiculous amount of money for the made in China (although shipped from here in Middleton… can’t figure out why it cost $18 in shipping…) kind of creepy doll. I have to admit, the clothes are freakin adorable! The little shoes… yikes…. sooo cute. Then, of course, we had to get some outfits for Darby to match the creepy doll!

I had grand illusions of making Henri a totally wonderful Halloween costume, but he will probably wear this adorable ensemble from his Aunt Jenni.

poor guy..

I also have to show the amazing necklaces my mom is making. She sent these off for us to wear after channeling her energy after the last debate into something good so she didn’t explode…

I think I will have a selection of them for sale at the Craftacular. I think she should make ornaments too. I am working on a new selection of ornaments as well and hope to show them off soon.

I have been a bit slower on the production than I would like. I know, I have a ten week old, two daughters, a house, husband, business… but I have also been having a really hard time after this pregnancy with postpartum depression. There. I ’said’ it out loud. I am pretty convinced I had it after Darby was born too (I was too busy after Zoe was born! - nothing like a newborn and a sixteen month at home…), but at 22 and my first child I didn’t recognize what was going on. This time it is pretty obvious and since it has been ten weeks, I have decided it is time to get some help with it. Hell, I figure if nothing else a support group or therapy could be me time! Sometimes though it is hard to take the time to work on yourself. Other times, you just don’t want to. Well, I think I need to. I am also looking into a sewing class and a few other things to work on ‘me’. It is hard to think me me me but I have learned the hard way that it is much harder to never think of me….

I hope you are all enjoying the rainy day. I made a big pot of chicken rice soup and pumpkin muffins for dinner. Care to join us??

I will leave you with one more pic of my lovely niece with her favorite little guy… talk about growing up fast. She is almost taller than me! Where does time go? It slips away when you blink. I think I will stop blinking..

xx’s and oo’s…

Wednesday Already?

When did that happen?? Well, let me get you updated~

First off, I am thrilled to announce that the Isthmus is going to be a sponsor for the Holiday Craftacular! It is a great opportunity and I am excited to work with them.

I have been squeezing in some work time here and there. I just restocked some of my ornaments including these.

They are acorn tree ornaments, but I think a bowl of them on a table would be sweet for fall too. I’m working on some pumpkins as well.

I even finished a few kitty hats. I love this one.

I have to make one for Darby for her Halloween costume too. She is going to be a black kitty and wants a sparkling one like this.

Besides those bits o’work, we had the girls school open house last night which was fun. I wanted to get pictures, but they haven’t been cooperating with the pics lately. Do you think it would actually physically hurt them to smile and not hit or offend each other for longer than thirty seconds…

There is someone who doesn’t complain yet about getting his pic taken…

He does like making funny faces though! Thank god for digital cameras… I have a huge tote filled with pictures from when the girls were babies that are a bit questionable as far as the quality of the picture.

He is finally big enough (almost) to wear the sweater from my aunt and uncle too. He looks sooo gnome like in it!

He also fits into the amazing moccasins my mom sent. This was the styling outfit he wore to grocery shop at Whole Foods with mom and dad last Sunday.

Henri also has two new favorite things to do.

Here is his favorite thing to do with mom (besides spit up on… oh, and we were heading to a wedding.. hence my makeup. I barely remembered how to put makeup on!)…

He LOVES to pull my hair. And, here is his new favorite thing to do with Daddy.

I hope all of your weeks are off to a spectacular start. I must leave you now and get some work done while Grandma is upstairs cuddling with the babe.

xxoo

p.s….. thanks for all the weight loss suggestions!!! Dammit…. eating well and exercise seem like the answers, huh?? I was hoping for a magic water to drink, or fairy dust, or something much more simple.
xx’s and oo’s

Craftacular!!

October 2nd, 2008 10:53 am by Naomi in Day to Day at Glitter | 8 Comments »

I have to send out a HUGE thank you to Andrea and her husband Chad for the new Craftacular poster design! It is exactly what I was envisioning and did it so amazing quick, especially considering they both work AND have two kids to take care of!!! It is perfect… I do have a few new exciting sponsors we will be adding and a couple minor changes, but I adore it.

There is still time to apply for the show. The info is HERE.

Time to squeeze in lunch while the baby is asleep! OH, one other thing. I am trying to take off some major ‘I’ve been pregnant for two years and was a wee bit overweight before that….’ weight and can’t figure out where to start. Does anyone have suggestions / comments as to what has worked for them or anyone they know?? It would be nice to drop down a bit before the holidays start!!

Happy Monday

September 29th, 2008 9:06 am by Naomi in Day to Day at Glitter | 1 Comment »

Today is off to a great start. It’s a bit overcast and grey, and it’s almost October, my favorite month!!

September has gone ridiculously fast.

The rest of my weekend ended up nice. My niece stayed with us all weekend since the girls were here. Usually they are with their dad on the weekends so it is nice when we have a chance to all be together.

Violet (my niece) is incredible. We were sitting at the table making puppy chow (diet?? what diet???) and look what she drew for me in about ten minutes.

Did I mention she is only thirteen?? She is an amazing artist and I hope she pursues it.

I also got a chance to photograph a vintage find I have been holding on to for a few weeks.

I adore the owls, and of course want to keep it, but we are in the process of decluttering (as always) and so I am passing it along. I also marked down a few vintage goodies on my Etsy shop. You can go here to see them.

Today a little happy man also turns eight weeks old!! When did that happen? I love that he is actually smiling now and interacting a bit more. Here are a few of todays happy grins.

Well, I can now hear Mr. Happy screaming his head off, so I suppose I better go! When the boss calls, you have to listen…

I hope you all have a happy Monday too.
