Five Months Ago & Perhaps the End of Hibernation?

January 3rd, 2009 6:01 pm by Naomi in Day to Day at Glitter | 3 Comments »

Five months ago tomorrow we welcomed this man to our world and our family.

Here he is whispering secrets with his sock monkey..

playing with one of his new favorite toys..

and getting ready to go to my sister’s house for a party today!

I actually finished a craft project today too. I started this scarf forever ago and am in the process of trying to use up supplies I have at home (part of the reducing what I spend and consume goal…). I really like the color combo.

I’m not sure if it is the end of hibernation though. I do need to get back to work since the checks won’t keep rolling in if I don’t have the product out at the stores to sell. I keep dreaming about taking off a year, but I know I can’t and I won’t. I am just uninspired at the moment. I’m not sure what I need for inspiration… any ideas??????

Mr. almost five month old needs his dinner now. Maybe rice cereal and mushed sweet potatoes will inspire my creativity?

Welcome, 2009

I welcome you with open arms.

I have one resolution this year. It is to live with more gratitude…. to see how fortunate I am and be thankful for it.

Sure, I have told myself I will also try to lose weight (averaging an hour a day on my Wii Fit!), spend less, make more green choices in what I do need to consume… blah blah blah blah. But, at the end of the day, I am one lucky Mama and all I ask is that I open my eyes a little wider and see that.

Last year was a whirlwind, but wonderful. I closed the retail shop, went through a bit of a bumpy pregnancy, ended up with a perfect, healthy baby boy, and had a record year of sales. My girls have grown and grown (Darby will be taller than me soon!), physically and emotionally and are becoming exactly who they should be… themselves! Life is good.

I have to clean my house a bit since we have people coming over in a couple of hours and still have food to make, so I will keep this short, but I really hope all of you have an amazing day, and that it leads into an even more amazing year.

I shall leave you with a few more Henri pics, because really, what is a post with no pictures???

Henri with his Art Vs. Craft monster my mom bought him, and his first oucher! … pinched fingers in a high chair. Mrs. Claurs (moi) found him a new high chair with toy attachments so Mama can make dinner with a happy baby in the room.

Previously mentioned high chair…

I love the ‘five point safety harnesses’ on all the baby stuff. They could probably parachute with some of these contraptions!

And, his Christmas present from Amma (my mom).

Happy New Years everyone!

Merry Christmas, Mom!

My mother lives very far away in Northern New Mexico and can rarely make it back here for holidays (even if she had planned to, they are buried in snow!!), so I decided to make a little collection of pictures from the past few days. I hope everyone enjoys them, but these are for you, Mom~ Merry Christmas!!

Visions of sugar plums? Well, at least mama’s milk…. It is Henri’s First Christmas!

Me, with all my kiddos.

Darbiana, Zoe, and Henri.

All the grandkids, getting ready to go to the Nutcracker! Well, not Henri, but all the girls~

This morning.

These are the amazing sock monkeys Grandma / Marci made for all of them.

My gifts from Jerome and ‘Santa’…

And, last but certainly not least, my super awesome gift (well, one of them) from my sister. It has been 25 YEARS since I got my first Cabbage Patch Kid and she was there is experience the life changing event with me. Seriously, I was sooooo excited. So, for this year, here’s one more!

Well, there is a Wii and Wii Fit to set up, American Girl dolls to play with, clothes to wear, good food to eat, video cameras to play with, my new totally amazing round orb compost bin (THANKS MOM!!!) but most of all? There is family to love. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I am going to sip my coffee that the most wonderful husband ever has made me, and lock my myself in the bathroom for awhile to try out every one of my new Burt’s Bees products. But then, it is all about the family.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

It has been an amazing year. I closed the shop back in February and have not looked back since. My business has grown to wonderful proportions (I had to hire my sister to help this past season!), my family has grown with the birth of Henri last August, and I have been blessed with good health, a warm home, and loving friends and family.

Here is a little bit of what we have been doing lately.

Trying on more Christmas outfits..

Playing in the snow…

.. and playing in the house!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me over the ups and downs of the past year and supported my business. I’m not sure who actually reads this blog, but I have fun sharing little bits of our life with you, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a safe and prosperous New Year.

I Found An Elf!

…under our tree….

Henri, wearing one of his six Christmas outfits. Well, I think we are on six… hmmmmm… today he has the reindeer on. Poor, poor baby.

We have been taking it easy. I dropped off a ton of stuff for Anthology on Sunday, then we went to the Overture Center to see A Christmas Carol. It was so good! I just splurged and bought Nutcracker tickets for Christmas Eve too. My sister and I are taking all the girls for a matinee showing before dinner at my in-laws. I can’t wait!! I have only gone once in my life (in Chicago as a very little girl…) and have always wanted to take the girls.

Jerome and the kiddos came home from shopping with our tree last weekend too. They picked out the most adorable tree!

We have a small living room and it’s just the perfect size.

I didn’t put out much Christmas stuff this year, but I did find my lovely house from Sarah of Girl-land, and my mom had bought me these vintage candles from her friend’s store.

I hope everyone’s holiday preparations are going well. I am getting there! Perhaps I will bake some cookies, sing some carols, cuddle with some elves??…. What are your plans?
